Don’t have a REAL ID yet? That could cause you travel headaches after May 7

I know pretty much everyone here has a Passport which will work. But you need to know you will not only need to carry it for flights inside the US, but also to enter Federal buildings in the US...........

I'm guessing my Global Entry card along with my Passport is sufficient to be considered a "Real ID?"

That's not a surprise. One has needed ID to enter Federal bldgs (and some private ones) for a long time. Even pre-9/11

And that is just the opposite of what has been in news here where we live. Confusing to say the least. Luckily, I got mine some time ago.

This is wrong information. Yes, a REAL ID is needed beginning May 7, 2025, for domestic flights and to access certain federal facilities................A passport is all you need though...........

It says if you fly international and have a domestic connection in your itinerary the passport is sufficient for the domestic connection

I said a passport is all you need. Read my posts. A passport is all you need any time in the US to travel now......................So there is no confusion when you go through TSA screening it does not matter if you are flying International or starting in the US you must present Real ID. And a passport is all you need...............

Real I.D is not a passport.Real I.D is a cleared certified state I.D or driver's license.

What is real i.d
An ID/Drivers License issued by the DMV which is a higher/enhanced security ID. It was supposed to come out some years ago or rather made mandatory, but it kept getting delayed. If I remember correctly, I had to provide more proof when getting the Real ID DL than what I had to provide previously when getting my DL.

The reason is simply because about 10 miles from JFK, at 74th street in Jackson Heights one can get the cheapie passports without the hologram for $100.
