A trough over the past long weekend caused flooding last week, especially in northern provinces and the Central Mountain Range. Residents and farmers in the area around the city of Constanza, and nearby farmlands in Tireo, reported damages from flooding. The road leading to the Aguas Blancas waterfall in Constanza was damaged by debris from the gushing waterfall and river.

Traffic along the Duarte Highway was impacted by the intense rains. In Moca, a man was reported dead when dragged by a flooded gully.

In Puerto Plata, there was a crack in the road in the area of Altamira, also the result of flooding waters.

The Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet) forecasts more rain for this week.

A bridge just west of the Moca Road on Route 5 heading east toward Gaspar Hernandez was also damaged. It is down to one lane at the eastern end of that bridge. Use caution when driving that way.

POP was heavily flooded last night. Worst thing I have ever seen. Apparently one river overflew and as a result, the street where my MIL resides, turned into a river of about 2-3 feet of water. Firetrucks working at midnight to get the mud out, people calling to each other being worried, several businesses flooded with dirty water and mud. We had to move the truck as the engine was about to get flooded via the exhaust pipe. Regardless, I stuffed the exhaust pipe full of shopping bags to ensure no water could enter.

It might be easier to say which parts were not flooded 😟
That's a pretty good summary... Near the main road, even near the bus station I saw mud everywhere today, so it was under water... Fire trucks today washing the main road for debris...
