President Luis Abinader for the first time has asserted that the Haitians need to tackle the crisis in Haiti and break from the historic tradition of blaming other nations.

“They have a big problem there. They need to stop this historical tradition of blaming others,” the President stated, challenging narratives that downplay the severity of the situation in Haiti and the real causes. “The claim that there is no problem in Haiti is invented, I question it. We are trying to draw attention to the problems they face.”

The President insisted that the worsening of the situation in Haiti poses a challenge for the entire region and underscored this as a reason for the involvement of the international community.
