Haitian government hires Erik Prince to support operations against armed gangs
We Are the People – Amid the worsening security crisis in Haiti, the government of that country has hired the services of American businessman Erik Prince, founder of the now-defunct military firm Blackwater Worldwide, to combat the armed gangs operating in its territory.

The information was published Wednesday by The New York Times and confirmed by Haitian and U.S. officials, as well as security experts involved in the operation. According to the report, the agreement includes the formation of a special group tasked with operating armed drones to target gang leaders responsible for widespread violence.

Erik Prince is known for his role during the Iraq War, when his company obtained contracts from the United States government to provide protection to diplomatic personnel. His record in international conflicts has generated controversy, particularly for the deployment of military contractors in war zones.

According to the journalistic investigation, Prince's team has begun using drones in Haiti since March, although no specific results, such as the capture or elimination of key members of criminal gangs, have been reported so far.

This is great. No bureauacracy. Just gang members disappearing.
I wouldn’t place too much faith in this latest government approved initiative NSP to reduce the gang violence. I see a potential for a lot of civilian collateral damage if armed drones are used against gangs who blend in well with the general population.

The foreign military boots on the ground are the same or less since the intervention started. Better air support requested by the Kenyans hasn’t happened. Hiring a mercenary group with drone air surveillance and attack experience might help fill the need in the short term, but the gangs will adapt accordingly.

Further funding is not on the US and Canadian administration’s radar. The UN is in a state of political disarray over Gaza. Haiti has been forgotten by the UN and using Windy’s analogy, has become their bastard child. As Big posted, the Mercenaries and the Kenyans will leave as soon as they get a sense of no more funding.

Hey, a couple of snipers with some carefully chosen targets could work wonders.
Kill one arrogant armed war mongering ahole and two rise up to take his place. About the only thing the well armed and organized Haitian gangs fear are the tactics of the former Ton Ton Macoutes, Papa Doc’s death squads who arrived at your door unexpectedly in the middle of the night and you disappeared forever. That and a ruthless dictator who keeps them constantly under heel would disrupt gang warfare.
