Was it illegal for Migracion to take them from a church?

It begs the question, if someone allows illegals to stay on their private property (to avoid being rounded up by Migracion), is that person comitting a crime in the DR?

Are you saying next time a gringo comes to my house for cup of Java I have to ask for cedula or passport make sure he is legal…

Both are interesting questions. If not illegal, taking them from a church is certainly bad optics. And purposely aiding evasion of Migracion by allowing them to hide on your property very well may be a crime...kinda makes sense.

Yea, sure, that's accurate analogy. If you have a venue that attracts a significant number of illegals; restaurant, job site or entertainment venue, you are open to P.D inspection. Kudos to Abinader.

This is a Catholic country, that is not an official church in Sosua Abajo. If you assist illegals to hide, you are breaking the law.

I certainly hope you do, but in this case we all know the only illegals the DR government cares about are those from Haiti.
So you don't have to worry about illegal gringos. I know illegal gringos don't worry at all about being illegal.

I used to ask Wife all the time for ID just to make sure!! It got tiresome sleeping on couch so I just wave her through now...

True but once in a while they also "screw" a "Gringo" just to show that the law applies to all LOL.

I have never heard of any illegal gringo on the north coast getting "screwed" by being illegal.
Happens all the time. Just doesn't make the news because they come from countries like Ukraine, Cuba, Colombia, India and that third-world shithole France.

Only if you do something really bad... otherwise no. Me, legal here for 20+ years (waste of money and time), with illegal freinds that just kept a low profile, not doing drugs etc. They are all fine
