US names new head of its embassy in Haiti

The office of the US Secretary of State has announced that Ambassador Henry Wooster will take on the role of Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Haiti beginning 12 June 2025. Ambassador Wooster has been charged with leading a whole-of-government approach to US policy on Haiti. The US Secretary of State says that he is will work with the US partners across the globe, who are providing critical support to Haitian security forces.

The US Secretary of State office explains that Ambassador Wooster has had a long and distinguished career, including service at US Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and as Ambassador to Jordan. He has also served in the United States Army. He holds an M.A. from Yale University and a B.A. from Amherst College.
