In an electrifying game at the start of the FIVB’s Volleyball Nations League championship in Ottawa, Canada, the Dominican Republic’s Caribbean Queens came from behind and defeated Serbia in game five (3-2).
19-year old setter Ariana Rodriguez explained in a post-game interview that after the team won the third set 25-15, confidence was regained to forge ahead and win the match. The game partials were 26-28, 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, and 18-16.
Coach Kwiek said: “It was an important victory, coming from behind. We pushed it to a fifth and took the game. We played a first set, second set, lowered our guard with three errors, and came back strong,” he said.
Ariana Rodriguez sait that after game three, the team “turned on the gears.”
She said for the next game: “We need to be aggressive and dominant throughout the entire game.”
