Many workers in the Dominican Republic have more than one place of employment. And this is becoming more and more common.
The numbers offered by the Ministry of Economics, Planning, and Development (MEPyD) show that the tendency to have more than one job grew 15.6% since last year.
The health sector, local manufacturing, transportation, and commerce were also sectors that saw an increased number of people with more than one place of employment.
On the other hand, the hospitality sector of bars, hotels, and restaurants, and the industrial free zone sector saw a reduction of people with more than one job. The government recently approved a major increase in the minimum wage precisely for these sectors.
Given the fact that the total number of persons employed in the Dominican Republic is well over 5.1 million, greater salaries and more jobs equate to a better overall...
