In a significant breakthrough, the National Police, working in conjunction with the Public Ministry, the prosecution arm of the Attorney General Office, has successfully recovered a substantial quantity of stolen electrical materials intended for the extension of Santo Domingo’s Metro Line 2, Diario Libre reports. The valuable cables, worth approximately 300,000 euros, were intercepted just as they were about to be shipped out of the country, reportedly bound for China.

The recovery comes as construction on the Metro line extension to Los Alcarrizos enters its final stages.

Is the value of the wires quoted in EUR as they were ordered from France (isn't the metro French made from Alstom?) or why are they not in USD or DOP?
