Sosúa Police Station

The governor of the province of Puerto Plata, Claritza Rochtte Peralta de Senior, has announced that the new police station in the municipality of Sosúa will be completed in mid-August 2025. She stated that, after overcoming several obstacles that delayed the construction. Work is currently underway on the exterior of the building. Once this phase is completed, the final touches will be made for the completion of the project and its official handover to the community.

She said that the project was initially intended as a renovation, but that when the work began, it was determined that the construction of the old barracks was unsafe and that it was better to demolish the building. This led to a budgetary restructuring, which made it necessary to submit an addendum, which halted the process. She added that during the development of the project, a legal dispute also arose when someone filed documentation claiming ownership of the land. Although the dispute was decided in favor of the state by a court, the legal process caused several months to pass without any progress. 'These are situations that delay any project, but now everything is on schedule. We are working on the completion and, God willing, by the end of August we will have a new National Police Unit for Sosúa,' said the governor. In this sense, the new station is considered a priority and essential project to strengthen security, improve police response and increase the level of prevention in the municipality of Sosúa, one of the main tourist destinations in the north of the country.

Corruption and incompetence indeed.
Took them 7 years to complete a sidewalk that runs a few hundred meters along the main road.
No doubt this project will take years as well.
I was referring to the PN, the country's second largest RICO operation behind decades first place winner, the EDEs
