On Monday, 23 June 2025, the Social and Economic Council (CES) has begun the meetings to discuss matters related to Haiti with representatives of different sectors in the Dominican Republic

In a landmark session held at the Universidad del Caribe (Unicaribe), the Dominican Republic’s Economic and Social Council (CES) opened the national dialogue on the Haitian crisis and its far-reaching implications for the country. The initiative aims to shape a unified and institutional response to the growing fallout from Haiti’s ongoing collapse.

Backed by representatives from the government, former Presidents, and the country’s social, labor, and business sectors, the CES established six working groups to address key issues: Migration, Bilateral Trade, Development of Border Communities, National Security, International Relations, and Labor Affairs.
