2. The Dominican Republic

Like Puerto Rico, certain areas of the Dominican Republic have many public beaches and natural attractions like waterfalls and caves, which don’t require you to book an expensive resort hotel. However, to pull this off, you’re better off avoiding areas like Punta Cana since this region has more expensive resorts and hotels. Check out budget-friendly destinations like Puerto Plata, Sosúa and Cabarete, where you’ll find inexpensive accommodations and dining options with activities like surfing and kiteboarding.

Including airfare? If one only has 2000.00 U.S for a two-week vacation my advice would be to stay home, grab an extra shift at the quicky mart. That is not a vacation, that's a sentence.

The way I read it; it is $2000.00 per week. Big, you do realize that there are many people out there that budget for vacations. Not because of a lack of money but because they have long term goals. Setting aside a certain amount for vacations is nothing new whether you have the means or not. I budget for vacations no matter where we go. It helps keep things in perspective as far as spending. You truly need to be less critical. Not everything is the way you see it or think it.

Obviously, your reality isn't some other people's reality. My wife and I often go to smaller hotels for our weekends at the beach. We are in the hotel only to sleep and shower. As long as it's clean, safe, and a decent location, we don't care if it is luxurious or rustic. We prefer to spend less money on our short Dominican holidays so that we have more money for our European or Asian Holidays. Off to Japan in October, that will be in excess of 10 k.

Well Bob, I was responding to the title that stated a carribian destination where you can vacation comfortably on 2 thousand dollars for two weeks. That certainly is not my reality or anyone I know. I prefer southeast Asia. Business class is around 7 thousand, round trip. Every thing else is super inexpensive, very cheap. Enjoy Japan.

Your online persona is getting rather tiring. It is not being a realist it is just being rude and condescending. Sorry to disappoint you but buffets are not my thing.
Calling me "rude" because I express an opinion and an angle other than yours. Wow!! Feel free to give me the boot !!!

What is your favorite SE Asia destination? I keep saying I'm going to go, but can't decide where.

w/o a doubt, Bangkok. There is a gentleman here that ran a bar in Pattaya. That place shaved 7 years off my life.

some people like to show off or brag about their spending power .....they are called " Big" mouths .......Personally I was here for two weeks in April and I would think I spent about $2000 for my vacation and enjoyed it immensely
