Discover the largest drug shipment in RD's history, 9.5 tons valued at $250 million
* The drug came from Guatemala and was heading to Europe, so far 10 are detainees. *
Anti-narcotic authorities confiscated the largest shipment of drugs in Dominican history: 9.5 tons of narcotics, stuffed in 9,558 packages, in Puerto Caucedo. Ten port employees were arrested.
National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) spokesperson Carlos Devers said it was the largest busted drug bust in the country, worth about $250 million.
He noted that the drug came from Guatemala and was headed to Europe.
The detainees are under investigation for their alleged link to the discovered shipment. So far, the DNCD has not provided any further details on the matter.
