1. What is the leading brand for interior paint based on quality?
2. Based on price?
3. Do most of the larger paint store/departments have color matching
machines? Are they accurate to 95%?
4. What store are recommended that are located in SDE...and not over the bridge to the capital?
5. Are there additives you would recommend that are mixed to paints especially exterior paint that deal with local conditions such as extreme heat and humidity?
TIA

We used Tropical satin finish inside, with the exception of the bathrooms. For those we bought a paint with mold inhibitor built in, I wish I remembered the brand, but I know it was an American brand that I knew. Bought it at Ferreteria Americana, closed now.

Do you think that "satin finish " is the same as "semi gloss" bc many people I have come across use the two adjectives interchangeable?

No, they’re different. Satin isn’t as shiny but can still be easily cleaned.

Absolutely correct. I'v used "satin" all my adult life.My wife (Dominican) mentioned the word "semi-gloss" the other day...reason for my question. Perhaps she is unfamiliar with the word "satin"..she did say "the finish you can clean...not flat".

Semi gloss acrylic is what she's probably referring to. Not too many folk here are up to speed on "Satin"

Hey Johne
I've paint with all brands of paint, there worked all good. Tropical, Tucan, Popular are the most popular here. All good for interior painting, semi gloss I used in all my appartments for the walls, acrilica forthe ceiling.
For exterior I prefer a special paint from Cano, it's against humidity and called agua stop, but not every Ferreteria sells it.
A good and big Ferreteria in SDE is Ferrelider on Av. Charles de Gaulles near Aut,San Isidro, they have all kind of paints and all brands have a guy there who help you with any question.

Thanks for the question and the answers. We're just about to kick off a crap-load of painting ourselves. Farmer

Went to Sherwin William store today to check them out .(Zona Orinenta). I wanted to see first hand if they had color matching equipment and respectable service for clients. So farther they get an A Plus. I got a rough price on some exterior paints which I will look at tomorrow and report back here for opinions.

Their paint isn't Behr but they have some good products. I wish it was available on the North Coast

Their prices are way too rich for me. Going to look elsewhere now.
