Codie Liermann / Travel Pulse

Every now and then it is good to get the perspective from someone who writes in major travel sites regarding the safety protocols now in place in this country. Codie Liermann, associate editor for Travel Pulse, is one of those writers, and her initial remarks were that “I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the safety protocols…” She noted, for example, that Delta Airlines will keep the middle seats empty at least until March. Upon arrival she noted the social distancing requirements were well marked and observed. She went on to describe her stay in Punta Cana (Hyatt Zilara in Cap Cana). All her luggage, shoes, hands etc, were sanitized upon arrival, and she especially like the fact that all the employees used masks and gloves. She even commented on how his room had a safety seal. This was glowing report and should be good news for the...

Please travel around the country to see what it really is like. Then come back and revisit your story. The protocols in place are good but are the people really following them?

No they are not. This woman went to one hotel. In a fairly exclusive area. Apparently never left the hotel. And made no attempt to see how things are really going in Punta Cana. Or anywhere else. If one wanted to travel to Punta Cana and stay in a protected more or less upscale hotel and never see the DR, it might be fine to stay at that hotel. I guess she never represented that she was giving an accurate portrayal of anything or anywhere other than the Hyatt Zilara in Cap Cana. Useless article except for those who live in a fantasy world reading "Travel Pulse". On the plus side, there are many good things that could be said about the DR with a little more knowledge and effort. Just not by this neophyte.

Here is how this works.

Freelance writer does a glowing piece and submits it to various travel publications in the hope of getting paid for it.

The travel publication, pays for the article if they like it.............but more importantly, if they believe they can use it to solicit paid future advertising from a tourism board or hotel(s).

It was objective all right.............but after reading it...........the objective was to make money.........not be objective.

Had a client visit this same resort late last year, and I commented on it here in a prior thread.............his take.........lots of Covid-19 protocols not being practiced there.

What are the odds if he submitted a freelance piece about his experience to the same magazine it would ever see the light of day.

Good article.....
nice to get an objective opinion
Objective? I'd say more like selective. How are those social distancing protocols working out in the many conchos (none in Punta Cana) around the country? I could add a litany of other inconsistencies but won't waste the time AGAIN.
We have at least a year of this virus and still the death rate remains very low.
OPEN EVERYTHING AND GET RID OF THE TOQUE DE QUEDA!!!

The article only addresses the tourism sector..... which the gov't wants to keep going

If I was a tourist in an All-In....... I would only care about my hotel - they rarely leave the compound
if ever

I addressed the inaccuracies of the article. Why don't you just shut off my comments if you don't like them because as long as there is a toque de queda I will continue to REPEAT AND REPEAT my opinion.
I guess I'm just strange, hating to see so many people, including children not getting educated suffering over BS!
