Do not Fly AA

Have you people noticed how AA only lowers it's fares when either new airlines start flying AA's routes or other airlines lower their prices? AA has predatory strategies. Their only goal is to remove any competition off the market so that once out of business they can once again f*** up the a**. Do not support AA. Instead fly any of the other airlines available.

No Endorsment,

My post is not an ad or endorsment of American Airlines!!! It is only to let others know of less expensive travel on a weekly basis.
I personally use them and don't have any problems with them! If you (roca) have a problem with them, you don't have to fly them!!

It's not only Roca that has the problem with them so does everybody else that has been forced to travel with them one way or another because of local authorities failure to protec the industry. And he can't help it if you like them so much you almost sound like you work for them.

I don't fly with them now that I have other choices, but even when I HAD to use them, once I was in the US, goodbye AA, hello the others. And Eli, it's not so much that the gov't does not protect us as much as how much AA pays gov't officials to maintain that monopoly. AA's prices are abusive and their new prices will go up once they get rid of Aeromar, Air Santo Domingo and the rest, which hopefully (but I doubt it) will not be anytime soon. In the mean time those of you (johnsr) that do not mind this, go ahead, help AA put these other airlines out of business. I know my money will not go to AA as long as I can help it.

I fly AA and USAir,both are fine!

The real advantage to AA is that they have many flights into, and out of Santo Domingo, and other cities as well.If there is a "problem" with weather,or equipment, you can usually get on another plane and still get home! With the "El Cheapo" airlines, and charters,if there is a problem you are stranded!Thank God I worked for a living, made lots of money, and don't have to waste my time "bad Mouthing" AA on the internet!CCCCCCCCC:bandit:

Roca i completetly agree with you as far as airlines paying money to officials, and that's a form of not protecting the industry however the mexicans take their money and still protect their industry by limiting the ammount of flights per day they fly into their country.

I understand this country does not have the same resources like Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, and Brazil to name a few that have stood ground and told the F.A.A. if their airlines can't fly to the U.S. the U.S. airlines can't fly to their countries and within days their Cat3 now Cat2* problem was solved.

Even though, with their problems aside (which every country has)there is alot more true nationalism in those places than we'll ever see here.

Does American pay $$$ to government officials? You bet!

Does every airline that flies to the DR, including the little guys, pay $$$ to government officials? You bet!

Is there any other way of doing business? Hell no!

Were that to change, would the DR be raised to CAT 3? Hell no!

You're talking about a government that can't accomplish the task of feeding schoolchildren mangu in a country overun with plantanos! How are they going to comply with a regulation book that's 10 volumes - each volume a foot thick??? In the last four years, the DR has been the "banana" in "banana republic"!!!

I don't think it can be put any clearer, one minor detail that the only people who suffer from this cruzade is the traveling public. unfotunatelly by paying outrageous prices.

AA specials

I did the AA special you are describing a few times and I think its a great value. From JFK to POP I think its usually $239 plus taxes (around another $95.00). Great deal.
