Abinader heads up Dominican Day parade in NYC

President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje spent the weekend in the second-largest Dominican city, New York City, the home base for the Dominican diaspora. His agenda was filled with meetings and ceremonies with political, economic, and social leaders of the overseas Dominican community as well as leading political figures in New York politics.

Dominican ambassador to the United States Sonia Guzman was there to greet the President when he arrived on a commercial flight from Punta Cana.

After a very busy Friday and Saturday, on Sunday, 13 August 2023 the Dominican leader led the very well-attended Dominican Day parade in Manhattan, being the first-ever President of the Dominican Republic to be in New York for the parade, perhaps the most important yearly event held by the country’s overseas residents.
