Hola,
Someone a good address (besides electro lama, la sirena etc).
I am looking for an A-brand, incl. placement/installation and maintenance if necessary.
Preferably 'a deal is a deal'

Professionals, not tinkerers. I'm curious about your reactions

If you are looking for invertor (energy saving) one, don't buy any brand like Samsung, LG, etc. They don't have any parts available here, so if something happens after 1 year warranty expires, you have to buy a new one. Been there, done that.

Go to Refripartes on 27 de Febrero (close to Plaza de la Bandera) and buy TGM brand. They always have every part for any TGM model. Another option is Airmax (they also have their store on 27 de Febrero close to Refripartes)

I think for longevity and performance TGM & Mitsubishi are the better options. Mitsubishi is more expensive and likely better but 2 years ago we put in a TGM inverter AC and it gets the room frosty fast, and knock wood no problems so far.
Tip to change the temp reading from Centigrade to Fahrenheit hold the temp up and down arrows simultaneously for 5 seconds

Not to pop your bubble but I have 9 TGM inverter A/C's; the oldest is 3 years.

Two of them have had problems in the last year. Both times I had to buy a generic control board because Refriparts (or anyone else) had the parts in stock.

BTW, TGM is a generic brand of A/C . There are many other generics that use the same equipment.

Having said that, I agree with Eugene. Buy a cheap one, be ready to toss it and buy another when it breaks.

Well, in that case you can always buy a generic control board online and bring it with EPS or any courier. But try to buy a control board for inverter Samsung A/C, even if you find the exact one you need, it will be cheaper just to buy the new A/C.

Yep, been there, done that. Both of the TGM's that died have generic cards. Also, it's not comforting knowing that 2 out of 9 have failed in such a short time period. Like we said before, better to buy a "Sumtingwong" A/C and when it breaks, buy another.

I've got a 'Domoto' A/C stuck in a back room that has never needed repairs for the last ten years other than regular maintenance.

I just bought a part for one of my trucks on Amazon for 1500 pesos: the cost here is 15K just about anywhere you go.

thanks. I'm going for a spin in the next few days. I'm only visiting 4 or 5 times a year.
The device is therefore switched off for most of the year..... which does not benefit the lifespan of course.

Stay safe!!

TGM by far your best choice in terms of savings, value, quality, parts, service, etc…

Just make sure it’s an inverter unit and not just the brand. They cool the rooms faster than any out there and you can adapt a Bluetooth gimmick to control from your cell phone away from home, including extensive programming for energy savings.

Clean the air filter and from time to time spray some WD-40 on the remote unit to keep rust away.

One thing which is essential is to put a high voltage protector on the line to the air conditioner. These cost about 1300 but save the cards from blowing if there is a power spike. The cards always blow because of power spikes so it's a good investment. A new card is about 8000 fitted

Visited refripartes. TGM is being removed from the range here due to delivery problems.
So bought a Samsung anyway (3 year warranty on the indoor unit, 10 years on the outdoor unit)

Also ordered the voltage protector.

Monday installation..... fingers crossed.

With the shortage of semiconductors, I am not surprised that many items won't be available. It seems TGM is one of those that is affected with delivery issues. That is my best guess on what the delivery problems are about.

I was also going recommend TGM as a first choice I do have a KTC unit as well since there was no small enough capacity version of TGM available for a small bedroom. The KTC inexpensive and works as well, so far, as my TGM . The Samsung I had in that room before was definitely a bad decision. The KTC has a microscopically thin layer of "gold" on the compressor fins. Probably "anodized" and not really gold. It might last a week or two longer than the TGM's fins. Unless of course the control board fails., etc. The Samsung failed when the support to the compressor fan rusted away and so did the entire outside compressor case after a few years.

I agree with the problems with the samsung.... avoid them, my samsung after a few years needs more repairs than I paid for it...............
