You need to document stuff. I had an Airbnb that was on the second floor over a drug "punta" in Barahona and left early because of this. I was able to get a 50% refund because I had photos of the untrained Pitbull down there and people going in and out wearing firearms.
there are 2 airbnbs i block from my house in la zurza... the owner has now turned them in to cabanas with the chicas on the street in front,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

But it will get the host off the hook.
I agree. Even if 4x4 is mentioned, it's mentioned for some reason. I would think it cannot be obligatory as if you have no SUV with 4x4, you don't have one, but they are in this case not recommending renting this listing...

There is also the fact that people drive in different ways. When I was new to the DR and we went to the campo, I had rented a Honda CRV that definitely had no 4x4. I was not able to get it up the hill arriving to the house due to loss of traction but my brother-in-law (Dominican) was able to do that just fine. I had driven for a decade at that point in time but no experience on campos nor SUVs... He was able to do that with a bit more speed using the steering wheel in a pretty smart way and finding the exact right track...

I am surprised that Airbnb was supposedly not able to help, as we've always been able to resolve everything with them, even if we had had trouble with the host... Hope it all ends up well for the OP...
