I want an unfurnished apartment or small house in or around Santo Domingo (well close enough to get in and out of the city every day for work) for about $300US.
Now had I wanted furnished then yes I could see the problem but I am going to furnish the entire house with IKEA products and so it not a mass cost.
I am confident aroound all areas in the city, not alot intimidates me as far as the kids on the street corners go, I know my way around, infact I must have walked every pavement in the city at some time or another looking for something normally very easy to find. Calling numbers on signs that put me through to some sex line or an indian call centre.
I was hoping to look at Z oriental but I can't even find listings for there this year, 12 months ago they couldn't give them away.
$300 unfurnished is a reasonable price in my opinion, what do you think

I'm turning green here and need to step away from the computer or we will be replacing new wondows this afternoon.

Tell me your thoughts on this please, I need some backup and a hand on my shoulder to get me up this very big hill of endless none existant properties.
I even went to meet an agent last week, I waited for 2 hours for him with baby in the pram, sweltering heat, eventually the prick turns up without the keys. He said, oh sorry we will have to make another appointment, I mumbled my own language gave him the look that would floor the devil himself and left without any comment. Talking to anyone at that point would have landed me in prison on a murder charge.
Caribbean life used to really chill me out, infact I was known as the tortoise to my friends, do nothing in a rush but it will get done properly when I get around to it. Now I seem to be manic man, I need things organised, kept on time, if things go wrong I want real excuses instead of 'oh I hit some guy on a motorbike.
What is happening to me!!!

We have covered this in other threads you have posted.

You will not find listings for ZO, or very few.
You need to walk the streets, speak to people, ask in the colmados etc.
If you are not prepared to do this type of leg work, you will not find what your looking for. End of story!

When I was looking for a place close to Churchill and Gustavo, I drove around one Sunday. I must have picked up 40+ numbers, names, buildings with apartments for rent.

Santo Domingo Norte

Go north young person, just across the bridge, you can find in reasonable decent nieghborhoods for >$300.00, house or apartments.

All along the right side of Hermana Mirabol all the way up to Charles de Gaulle.

The residential area calle Maximo Gomez is fairly decent, quite, I lived there for 3 years, renting a 3 bedroom house, samll back yard and front yard, rent was RD$4,500.00 month, that was in 2004, si I would expect you can still find for RD8,000.00 - $10,000.00 per month, well with in your price range.

And close to the Mirador Norte and the Station Mirabol of the Metro getting into any part along the route in 15 minutes or less.
