Amhsa Paradise Beach Resort and Casino...anyone gone, or going?

I was wondering if anyone had been there, and what they thought about it? Any details would be great--beach condition, food, nightlife, activiies..etc etc. I was also curious if anyone else is going to Puerto Plata from May 15th-22nd?

Kate went there last year got married stayed for three weeks, had a suite. Make sure you upgrade to a superior room. Going back this May 18th for two weeks. Here's a good link with information.

Stayed there last June, had an excellent time... food, staff, disco, beach everything just incredible, you will love it!

Kate: Darren has suggested you read Debbie's page (which generally is a really good idea). However, there are some negative comments on this page about the Paradise that I did not recognise from the trip I took there in 1997 (unless things have changed which I doubt) so I thought I'd try and put your mind at rest about this. "loud music by the pool" and "forced participation" - I can honestly say I did not experience this. "Lobby small and crowded" - the lobby struck me as beautiful when I first saw it...as for crowded anywhere gets crowded at times if loads of coaches stop off at once. I only ever saw it more than comfortable even when we arrived. "beds not made and mouldy walls" - the rooms were very clean, fresh and tidy when we arrived and the maids ensured they stayed like this, without exception all the two weeks we were there. "Smelly birdcages" - I really love birds and when we were there these cages had some babies in them....we sat by them all the time and there was no smell at all. Overall the resort is extremely beautiful and I would recommend it. We enjoyed it so much we are going to another Ahmsa (Casa del Mar) next week. We would go back to Paradise but thought we should see the other coast. I would recommend though that you make sure you have a superior room asI understand the standard rooms are rather small. If you want to change the room you are first allocated go to the reception and ask if there are any others. We did this with no problem and ended up overlooking the beach/sea which was lovely.
