The organizer of next week's Aventura concert here in Belgium wrote yesterday in his newsletter that the bachata band is going on a world tour from 10 May to 19 July to promote tourism in the DR.

Secretaria de Turismo signed a $600 million deal with Aventura to stage 21 concerts (10 Europe, 3 Canada, 3 US, 4 Latin America, 1 Santo Domingo) in promotion of tourism to the DR. Aventura also promissed to write a song about the DR and the Secretaria de Turismo can use their song 'Obsesion' for promotional purposes. At the same time Aventura will off course promote their new record 'God's Project' which is to be released end of April.
Well, whether you like Aventura or not, it looks like the Secretaria de Turismo is getting their act together and organizing themselves behind these world famous dominican pop idols to promote the country and put the DR on the world map. Imho, money well spent!
