We just spent two weeks in the DR. Had a great time. But I'm still trying to wrap my brain around something. While we were in Constanza, the cheapest place we visited, I thought I'd buy a baseball and bat for some of the local kids. The baseball was us$5.00, which was about what I expected. But the baseball bats ranged from us$140 to us$440. I pointed out that this was lunacy, but they assured me the sticker that said $13,000 was correct.
One young fellow at the store was willing to sell me his used bat for us$80. I didn't buy one, so it's not fair to say they saw me coming. But what was that all about?
