4 OF US WILL BE STAYING AT A RESORT IN THE SAN PEDRO de MACORIS AREA FROM JANUARY 13,2001 TO JAN 26,2001 AND WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND A BASEBALL GAME AT THE STADIUM IN SAN PEDRO. WHEN DOES THE CARIBEAN WORLD SERIES START? HOW DO I RECEIVE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS? IF THERE ARE GAMES IN SAN PEDRO de MACORIS, HOW DO WE GET TICKETS? WHAT IS THE COST? CAN YOU RESERVE TICKETS BEFOREHAND?

ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS!!

Can't help you with the San Pedro Schedule but I had the chance to see a game in SD last weekend. I bought a Licey Tigres Jersey.
Timo Perez of the Mets was visiting their dug out.

Then on Sunday night I went to Eclipse Disco to see Sin Fronteras play. They are a Merengue Group. In the audience at the table next to mine was Pedro Martinez! Nice guy, loves to dance made my fiance's sister's night with a kiss on her cheek.

Monday night at Jet Set, Moises Alou and Jose Canseco were there. There was a big Charity event put on by Manny Mota on November 30th, and that is why many players and ex players were in town. Unfortunately I had to fly out on the 29th but it was great meeting some great ballplayers. Plus at Jet Set I got my picture taken with the Queen of Merengue, Milly Quezada!

John:

I used to have in my bookmarks the address of a website about baseball in DR. I had gotten from someone on DR1. Maybe if you look in the archives and do a search you'll find what you're looking for. I remember reading the names of all the teams with the game schedule.

I'd like to catch a game while I'm there for the Xmas holidays but I doubt they will play at that time of the year.

You want the Estrellas team schedule. It looks like they are a lock to make the playoffs.
You will want "Palco" seats, just ask someone at your hotel.
They are a good team this year. Usually they are not.
this is the area of Alfredo Griffin and Rico Carty, Sammy and a host of others.
If you want to see some of the ballplayers before they make it, try and get to the town of Consuelo and watch a game. another option is to visit one of the Major League "camps" in the area.
Dodgers have one not too far away.

HB Thanks for the information on the baseball games. You mentioned that the LA Dodgers have a Major League "camp" close by-can you tell me where?

Thanks for your help! John
