Best Bars/Restaurants and trips in Sosua

Im visiting DR late November and staying at Casa Marina Beach club..I would be grateful if you have any info on the following:-

What are the best bars and restaurants to visit in town or nearby.. Where is good for live music Good day trips, are the Rum jeep trips good fun, what about boat trips

Good day trip, the best actually: River rafting in Jarabacoa, the Dominican Alps. You leave in the morning, spend the day in the mountains - and on the river - and are brought back late afternoon. Fantastic trip. Go with a tour operator - plenty offers these trips - and aim for Ranch Baiguate. You wont be dissapointed. If you're into organic food - really well done, local dishes, try Restaurant El Cariibe (spelling?). It's in Sosua, not far from the policestation. Ask around,the owner is Antonio... They are a nice change to the western restos in Sosua - though On the Waterfront is also a good place to eat. Have a great trip.

Try the Britannia Pub in Sosua, Lyndon and Barb, owners have live music on alternate weekends and should be able to fill you in on other activities in Sosua. agree with the river rafting. If not up for rafting there are jeep safaris that do go to the waterfalls in Jarabacoa. If you visit Puerto Plata, stop in at Sam's and say hello.

Casa Marina Beach Club is a very "kewl" resort. Very nice people, nice beach, food is much the same every day but good! Good entertainment in the evenings, hope they fixed their sound system. Regards Rene

For English speaking bars check out the Britannia Pub or Rocky's Bar on Calle Dr. Rosen. There is no shortage of German speaking bars if that's your desire. There are plenty of boat rides available at the Sosua public beach, anything from a little boat "Pedro for rent" to glass bottom boats to bannana rides. There's a good steakhouse in town, but I can't remember the name. For excellent Mexican food( don't rem. name) and Italian fare (mamma Mia)these restaurants are right near Rocky's. You'll find it very comfortable and safe at the Casa Marina - but do wander into town and check it out. You may run into me.
