Best Beach in Santiago area

Hello all,

I will be in Santiago this weekend but looking to visit a nice beach with great nightlife as closest possible to Santiago. Have been to Puerta Plata, Cabarete and Sosua already so any other suggestions will be appreciated.

You can now reach La Ensenada at Punta Rucia in about 1:15 or 1:20, if you go to Cruce de Guayacanes and up to Mamay de los Hidalgos and then to La Isabela, Estero Hondo, PUnta Rucia. Eat at Elsa's place...see the food on the thread of Dominican Beauty.

Would that 1:15 be done in the suped up VW?

Seriously do they have public restrooms and a shower or hose to rinse off?

The river that flows through Santiago is not bad. i like to bring my lounge chair and cooler and fishing rod down to the river banks and cast out my fishing line and lounge on the river banks.

the river has a nice brown color, a kind of mauve/copper tone. bring lots of suntan lotion.

Don't do that. Go to La Ensenada. Eat at Elsa's. All else pales in comparison...

Dont be foolish. Far and away the best beach near you is Sosua. And its a lovely town with lot to do.

So, although i will be meeting the OP here in Cabarete in a few days, and riding with him on motorcycles, my previous answers to this thread have been deleted becuase?

I guess someone here thought i was joking about me fly-fishing on the river in Santiago?

Oh well...Dragon, I'll see you in Cabarete in a few days. Rest assured, i'll give you the the tour of your life!! Plan on renting a motorcycle. Trust me, no one knows this island better than me.
