I'm a sailor, and like most of us sailors :pirate: , love good rum. I have a pretty decent collection, and am arriving in SD this Sunday. I'd love to know of any great amber-colored rums made in RD, to add to my collection while I'm there, please....

Help?

I like the Extra Viejos as well...why stop at Anejo when you can the premium ones at such a great price here?

When at your local supermarket, buy a bottle of Siboney, the one with the red label...

Somehow it reminds me of the best rhum in the Carribean (Barbancourt 5 ?toiles)...

Brugal, but gotta agree that Barbancourt is by FAR the BEST! I don't even drink rum though, I just cook with it (best in cakes to create moisture and flavor)and I can notice a difference. Brugal is second best but don't leave DR w/o lots of BARBANCOURT! I promise it will not let you down! I can't wait to go back and buy more :) It makes the best cakes ever!

Thanks for all the input!

Barbancourt is already well-represented on the shelf- I spent some time in Haiti last year.:pirate:

Now I have a list to work with - fantastic! Are all of these readily available?

Again - thanks a bunch!

Brugal Siglo de Oro can be difficult to find, but it's available in bigger liquor stores (12 year old ultra premium) in the blue porcellain bottle, and Licor Unico (30 years) in a red porcellain bottle.

BTW, you can tour the Brugal factory in Puerto Plata for free - and buy all their available products at a great price right there.

Bermudez's factory is in Santiago - they also offer tours, and I assume, a company store. Not sure how easy their premiums are to find, but I believe their top-shelf version is Bermudez 1852 Anniversario (12 years),

Barcelo' is in Santo Domingo, Im not sure if they offer tours, but I assume so.
Their premiums are pretty easy to find: Barcelo Imperial and Barcelo Gran Anejo.

I havent tried it, or heard much about it, but you may want to seek out Matusalem... a "Cuban" rum distilled in Santiago. Look for Matusalem Gran Reserva...
