Could someone tell which is the best month to go to the resorts in Punta Cana?? Is it better in Summer time or Winter?? How is the weather in May or June?? And the temperature of the water in these months??

Thank you.

The weather is essentially the same year round, except perhaps 5-7F warmer in July and August compared with February and perhaps a little rainier in September and October. Any month is good. If you want it a bit hotter, go in the summer, else go in the winter.

My husband and I honeymooned in Punta Cana last July 98. I'd say that it was hotter than Samana, where we were the previous week. Jim is correct, there isn't much difference in temperature between summer and winter. The waters do get chillier in the "winter" months though. By the way, my husband thought the heat was unbearable by 10am. We have just relocated to Wash. DC, and he will never complain about heat in the DR - its like a swamp down here!

Jim- when you say rainier do you mean longer period during each day? I am going at the end of October and the last thing I want is alot of rain!

No matter what time of the year, rain showers are usually short in the DR. About ten minutes or less on the average.

My experience has been that it rains more often in September and October. It is common for short afternoon showers to pass through, but I've also had several days of solid rain in the past, even a tropical storm or two and a hurricane. Hey, you can't plan your vacation around a "chance" of rain. But if you want the least chance of rain, don't go in Sept. or Oct.
