Best party hotel on the North Coast

A friend of mine is going to the North Coast and would like to meet lots of fun people and party for a week. (I don't mean sex) I suggested going to Sosua because the beach is nicer than the rest of the NOrth coast but I dont know if the night life is all that great. He wants to have a nice beach and the night life at the same hotel.

North Coast * Party=Cabarete

I've been to Sosua and it was a lil boring. I went to one main club (High Carribean) and it was full of hookers. Playa Dorada is okay but you're pretty limited. The only places to party were Crazy Moon Disco in the Paradise Resort and Hemingways Bar. I highly recommend Cabarete. It has the best nitelife. You'll have plenty of bars/cafes to choose from. The best part is that they're right on the beach and you can barhop from one to the other. The crowd is very diverse; Canadians, Europeans, Americans, and trendy Dominicans. The music is just as diverse; Rock en Espanol, House, Techno, Rave, and Hip Hop/Rap. I've been there twice and liked it so much that I'm spending New Year's there. They do have a website but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here so email me if you're interested.

How do you know they were hookers? Using your term, all the other bars you mentioned are also filled with *hookers*. So you prefer bars with sanki pankis (male prostitutes)? That's about the only difference between High Caribbean and the other bars you mention. One has lots of Dominican women and the others have lots of Dominican men. All the bars cater to tourists. These are tourist towns.

Sosua is boring? You're nuts! Sosua has the best nightlife on the north coast, hands down.

I would suggest staying in the Playa Dorada Complex on the North Coast. That way your friend has the options of chosing the disco he is interested in going. The discos I can recommend and they are located at these resorts: This discos any tourist/ locals may visit, where as opposed to other discos in the complex some are restricted to the tourists staying at that resort.

Amsha Paradise Resort- Crazy Moon Disco

Hemingsway Cafe- located at Plaza they have karokee

I have stayed in Sosua, at that time there was 3 discos happening. They were Tucam disco, High Caribbean disco, Casa del la Sol disco. There are other discos in that area but are not recommended visiting. I found when staying in Sosua, its all locals in the disco(which I didnt mind) but some people vacationing like to meet other tourists. I found very few tourists went to the local discos because they were off of the resort and some you had to take taxi to.

Gringo, come on now.. You know what's up. There is no doubt in my mind that they were hookers. For starters, they discussed it openly with others in the bathroom, they grabbed every male walking past them (we call it soliciting) and let themselves be grabbed, and finally they kept trying to get the guys to go outside for other "services". I was there with a group of people and we were all appalled. I agree with you that Sanky Pankies are everywhere but that place was inundated with them. Finally, yes, I did find Sosua boring. Maybe a couple of years back it was the place to be but not anymore. As a matter of fact, I asked the locals why it was so dead and their response was "the hookers ruined it". You're intitled to your opinion as am I and when Jensita and her friend return they'll have theirs. So live and let live and chill with all that hostility.

The police routine shut down whatever disco is popular and the crowd just moves to another. Then when they reopen, they are dead. Maybe Moby Dick today, maybe Copa Cabana tomorrow, maybe High Caribe another day. Believe me, Sosua still rocks.

The female locals are way more up front. They can be. Men don't need to be charmed. Don't pretend moving to a different bar avoids the *hookers*. They just change gender. Come on now, you know what's up.

Sosua is the town we always visit in the North, unless you are into the all inclusive /animators scene in P Plata.

One is out in the open, the other is supposedly "entertainment"

If anything is choking Sosua, it's the all-inclusive places like the casa marina. People are less inclined to visit the surrounding area and patronize the restaurants, shops, and smaller hotels.

However, Sosua still rocks. Boring? I don't think so. Hookers killed Sosua? Not. There's still plenty of partying going on. If you're not interested in a girl just say so. These ladies are in business and aren't going to waste time with you for nothing.

Real problem: If the casa marina gets any bigger they might as well change the name of sosua.

Now that makes sense. Maybe that's why I like Cabarete so much it's sort of "no-frills". To go all-inclusive is to miss out on tasting great cuisine from not only DR but all over the world. I met most of my Dominican friends at New Wave Cafe during breakfast. I must say that I did find a little cafeteria in Sosua that had the best "comida tipica". However, I'm still not convinced that Sosua rocks. Gringo and Tom, I'm spending the New Year in Cabarete and if you give me the names of some places you think are cool I'll check it out. I'm seriously willing to give Sosua another shot so dont send me somewhere crazy out of spite. Take care.

I think this is quite true!

I watched Puerto Plata die for two reasons:
1) the "Tourist Guides" fought over the tourists and ruined the city for the Cruise Ships and they left. And they drove out the only Gringo that provided decent service--Mark Freehill...
2) After Jack Tar, all the other resorts at Playa Dorado went all-inclusive. Since P.D. is a ways from the city, only those few spots near the complex could survive.
Nowadays, to get out of the complex the tourists have to buy these fake "jungle" trips, some of which are pretty cool. these are the ones that do seem to be making a go of offering services to tourists....

sosua are over (628-KM)
and there are so many places/things to go and have some decent conversations with Decent/Lovely/Honest Girl/Guy
some of them to start A Relationship some others
just to became Friend

but of course does people are only available fore does who are looking fore does type of people

that goes to place with no modal/Respect and many others
thinking that with money they will have

the people could not eat out side of the cabin
