Every two weeks my buddy and me go to the German restaurant that is by the Max car wash in Sosua. We have been there at least 10 times and have never eaten the same thing twice, although every dish we have tried we would quite happily eat again. They have their main menu, that is huge, and then their daily special menu, which is usually 5 different dishes. As their specials always sound delicious and always change, we never even bother looking at their main menu! This is the only place in town that the food is served piping hot. The prices are extremely reasonable, the service is great and the food is served fast, and is prepared by a German chef.
Last week we were there and I had a grilled chicked breast served in a sweet curry sauce with breaded and fried banana and peach, rice and a small salad...270 pesos. My buddy had a pork tenderloin done in a very rich wild mushroom, (trumpet mushrooms) sauce with german pasta and a small salad...350 pesos. Other weeks we have had pork tenderloin kebabs, chicken breast in a herb and garlic butter, beef rouladen, beef goulash and much more. All these were on special and they range between 230 - 370 pesos. We have never found a dish we did not like, have never left anything on the plate and the portions are just right. This rapidly became our favorite restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone.
They are usually much busier for lunch than they are for dinner.

For Breakfast....

News Cafe (formerly Hamburger Paradise) across the street from Club Residential. THE best breakfast in Sosua! It is a plentiful meal with great eggs, wonderful bacon and fabulous potatoes served with a bunch of fruit and bread...AND the best croissants we have ever had here!

At first the price seems a little steep at RD$200....but for the amount of great food you get - it is WELL worth it!

Enjoy

Just went to Al Buen Gusto a new restaurant on Calle Alejo Martinez. It's on the same street and same side between Bologna and the Casino. Had Mero with Ginger Sauce that was fresh and delicious and Pechuga with Creole Sauce both with rice/potatoes and fresh vegetable mix. Service was very good, large portions and prices quite reasonable. Nice to see management active in restaurant and chef visiting table to see how everything was.
Will definitely go back to try other items. Also has usual sandwiches, dominican plate, pizza and pasta. No vested interest just glad to support a great addition to the North Coast.

Sounds great but perhaps...

...you could narrow it down a bit. There's a lot of distance between your landmarks. #25 is Bologna Restaurant and north of 5, 6, 7 is more or less where the new casino is.

It's not near the new casino. El Bueno Gusto is on the same block as Bologna. A 1 minute walk. It's between Bologna and the small corner casino. From the map it would be between Daniel Stern and Calle Phillipe.

I was surprised to find...

...that the food, and service, at PJ's was vastly improved from years past!
(There was a time, in years past, that I would go hungry before eating there
and would never allow friends to go without a stern warning)

PJsRestSosua.jpg

Earlier this year I spent 2 weeks in Sosua with an ever changing group of friends and we ate many a late dinner or middle of the night meal at PJ's.
I was very pleasantly surprised when a friend suggested it, after 11:00pm one night, that it was very good indeed. There are very few options, and almost none for a sit-down dinner, in the later evening.

I don't recall the exact pricing but it was fair and everyone in the group really enjoyed the many meals we shared. This included a variety of Dominican locals, expats and tourists from many different backgrounds and expectations.

The Soups, both Chicken and Fish, priced at about 160 pesos and 190 pesos mas o menos, were delicious and filling. The Chicken Parmigiana and Fettuccine Alfredo was fantastic and the pizza decent if not as good as some places. The Hamburgers were often ordered as were Clubhouse Sandwiches...IIRC.

Menus were available in both English and Spanish.

The staff were pleasant and attentive...and grateful it seemed after we patronized their restaurant, night after night. We were happy to find a comfortable place with decent food well after almost every other kitchen had closed. A win-win situation for all.

PJ's is #8 on the map

The breafast is very good there, but it's a good dinner place also. The medallions of filet de res, is fantastic. They have a small menu, but the food is the best for the money in Sosua.

You should try Cafe Cubano. It is the best place to eat good American food for a good price. The service is great and you won't have to wait almost an hour to get served.

Hotel Sosua | Piergiorgio Palace Hotel Sosua Dominican Republic
This place has a GREAT view, it's quite pricey, but when I went a few times it had GREAT food & service just like you would expect from North America!!!

I have however heard mixed reviews from other people since then, but if you are looking for a beautiful, beautiful view...you've got it here!

Ocean front restaurant

One of the best ocean front restauarants is Al Porto, also known to the locals as Bologna 2, in Sosua Ocean Village. If you want a beautiful and romantic setting then there really is no better place in Sosua. The food is good, prices reasonable, service is fantastic and the views over the infiniti pool lit up with hundreds of white LED lights is the most breathtaking.....if you are looking for somewhere special then I would definitely recommend this place.
Unfortunately it is not located within walking distance to down town, but if you have transport it is well worth a visit

Friends don't let other friends eat at PJ's is the motto I live by. Had a slice of pizza the other night at the shark bar only to find out it was from PJ's, And i will stick to my motto.

Personally I love Cabrito which is young goat and is like baby back ribs in the states without sauce smoked and grilled only 10 times better than pork.
