Beware of Counterfeit Razors Gillette Fusion

I've been using Gillette Fusion Blades for about a year now and while they were good on the first time around, I've been noticing that the last set of blades I bought have been shaving much rougher and haven't been lasting long. While I was looking online for a good price I found out these are being counterfeited at rates up to 80% for online sales and that they are also sold in smaller stores and supermarkets. I checked mine and sure enough, they were phonies.

I'd be very surprised if the majority of Gillette blades sold in the DR are not fakes as well. Here is a link for comparing several brands:

At $20-$30 for 8 blades in the US, there are going to be copies. If it looks like a good deal, it probably isn't.

You were getting ripped off anyways, you can buy a straight razor for 200 pesos and the disposable blades for like 10 pesos for 5.

There are cheap blades in the US too. I've gotten them off and on, but they are crap.

Counterfeit products are everywhere, but esp in developing countries. Lots of items that are cheap to make with high mark-ups are counterfeited-- batteries, perfumes, drugs(esp Viagra), shoes, watches, cigars, toys, CDs/DVDs, software... the list goes on and on...

Ok, but are those razors the "one blade" type ?
If so, they are not as comfortable as 3 or 4 blade types...

I once was flying back to The DR and got into a conversation with a guy from Mao who was supposedly returning from Turkey where he went to negotiate a contract to import shaving blades to sell in The DR. I thought it was odd as I had never heard of Turkey being a place where shaving blades were produced, but now I wonder...

I just checked blades I bought at PriceSmart...they have the serial numbers...so appear to be real....
