I'm assumming your talking about the "Breezes Puerto Plata" (that is actually located on the highway between Sosua and Cabarete) ? If that's the place, the name on the sign out front was changed quite a while ago. And I believe it reopened under the new name for a short period of time. But it has been closed again for at least several months now. Everything was dark when I drove past it last week.

It reopened many moons ago under the coral resorts banner as Coral sol de Plata. It closed a few moons afer that and show no sign or reopening under any name in the near future. So sad as the resort was pretty nice and in an excellent location to enjoy both Sosua and Cabarete.

It is close up and no signs of life other then security on the gate and a pretty good job of mowing the lawns.

They took down the Coral resorts banner and it still hosts the Sol de Plata sign. The last two years it has reopened around December for the winter high season and then closed again after Easter.

Jamao al Norte
Walked through there a couple of days ago. It's vacant. The little "villas" appeared to be occupied with Dominicans. Don't know if this is security or squatters. Roosters and chickens were running about. From the looks of it, no tourist-types have been there in awhile.

I would assume that it has not been operational for some time due to comments made regarding their willingness to to actively participate in Perla Marina's community organization. The Sol de Plata homes must use the Perla Marina main gate, security, and roadways in order to enter their own gated area. Although they have their own, separate security, they use Perla Marina roads and services as well. And they have not been paying for Perla Marina services due to Breezes- or Coral Sol de Plata- being closed and not bringing in income. That is what Perla Marina is being told.

I do not have any ax to grind. I am merely a Perla Marina resident reporting what I have seen and what was told to us at the Perla Marina association meeting back about 5 or 6 months ago.
