Somewhere in Puerto Plata there is a Brugal factory store when one can purchase Brugal 151proof rum.

Anyone pls confirm this? If so, could you be so kind as to provide the address and fone number?

The Brugal Factory is on the highway between Puerto Plata City and Playa Dorada. But it is a waste to travel there to purchase Brugal 151 proof rum, which is their low end kind of rum.

Am not sure that anyone can visit that store, or if the visits are limited to those taking the tour, though. Anyway, if you go there, purchase the finer rums, such as Siglo de Oro and their rum liquor.

To purchase Brugal 151 proof rum, just visit any of the supermarkets in Puerto Plata. The price will not be that much different for that low end kind of rum, contrary to the savings on the higher end kinds of rum.

You can get this in any supermarket down there. I have a bottle in my house that I won't dare open just yet - I got it last Christmas Eve in a Pola Supermercado. I'm not trying to destroy my liver yet......

Keep that genie bottled up for crying out loud or add it to the windsheildwiper container....
I agree, do not, NOT, consume unless absolutely necessary. (You know, you are completely plastered and still have a bunch of amigos who are thirsty, it can happen..)

You better hurry, though

Brugal has just been, or is in the final process of being acquired by Bacardi. So much for a Dominican Rum, goodbye Brugal

151

Not sure what the big deal is about 151 rums, we have one here in Bermuda, Goslings Black Seal. Its virtually undrinkable and in the last year or two its been removed from the duty free shop at the airport, cos 151 proof is flammable and as such is banned from hand lugguage on planes.

I guess one has to like drinking lighter fuel?

How to use 151 rums

151 rums are 75.5% alcohol ,and are made TO BE MIXED with something else , like fruit juices, soda, and so. The high alcohol concentration allows the mixed drink to keep the strength of the rum, so even if you use a great amount of ice and other stuff in the mixing the drink would keep its flavor, allowing the consumer to remember they are still sipping an alcoholic beverage. Does anyone remember someone getting drunk , after drinking two or three cocktails too fast? :knockedou :glasses:

Actually

It's a 250 million Dollar Rumor, and in the final stages of signing the deal. Speculation had it at 700 but that was absurd and also that it was by Domecq. Either case, the Brugals made a very wise desicion but unfortunate by Bacardi.

I would be surprised to see this acquisition getting approved by the US and European competitiveness authorities since Bacardi is by far the n?1 world leader in rhum and Brugal is n?3. A merger with Domecq would be more plausible imho.
