Anyone can provide reliable information about bus from Sosua (or Puerto Plata) to Samana? I collected some information but not consistent and reliable. I have a tour in Samana that I don't want to miss. I even got numbers of the travel company (Transportes Papagayo 1-829-376-8346), but they only speak spanish. Any one can help? or maybe call the number? Appreciate your help.

Learn this
1. Busco la gua gua que vaya para samana.
2. A que hora sale la próxima gua gua
Use google for translation & pronunciation
Gua gua is a bus (GWAH-GWAH)

I still struggle with conversing in Spanish over the phone, yet in person I do pretty well :) Admitting "mi espanol no es muy bueno" and asking the person to slow down usually helps a little
Go stand in front of the Texaco station just after 6am.... usually between 6-7, and wait for the bus.....It will have a sign on the front Puerto Plata Samana.... wave him down and have a good trip....

thank you. I heard the bus starts at puerto plata around 5:45am, it sounds reasonable to wait at Texado station at 6am. I received conflicting info. Some other people say to wait there 7:30am. Some say 2pm. I'm confused that's why I want to confirm to get an "official" answer.

There is actually 2 buses per day, but not sure what time the afternoon one is..... The one that starts from Puerto Plata at 545 returns in the afternoon, so the one coming from Samana - Puerto plata in the AM and returns to Samana in the early afternoon....

The hotel I booked at Sosua told me there's only one bus a day at 2pm and there's no morning bus :) Very confused. Did you call Transportes Papagayo to get the 6am bus information?

A thought...ask the hotel to make the call and confirm the information. And, try to confirm if the hotel is giving you info for a different bus company...maybe there's more than one

I have asked 4 different hotels. No one did. I asked here in two different pots, no one did. Is it because it's expensive to make domestic phone calls in DR? lol. I gave up.

From Puerto Plata – The bus leaves the Puerta Plata Hospital at 6:30 am and picks up people along the way to Samana. (Papagallo - 809 749 6415) El Canario does the same route in the afternoon (809 291 5594). (About 350 pesos, subject to change. You can do this trip with gua gua (around 4 changes), a bit more expensive and less convenient but possible.
