On occasion I need to compose a business letter in Spanish. Usually I am doing this with help from Dominican friends. They often have me writing some pretty bad Spanish--sentences without verbs, runon sentences, etc., and I'm able to catch those mistakes. But it seems like they always start out with Por este medio nos dirigimos a Ud., and end with Sin mas nada. To me it sounds like a nine year old's writing, but I realize that may be me thinking in English. Are these appropriate or not?

Not fancy, but appropriate.

#I found this - what do people think

The most common and most respectful ending to Spanish business letters is "atentamente." This word is similar to the English "kindly." For a more formal letter closing, write, "le saluda atentamente," or "les saluda atentamente" for a letter addressed to more than one person.

When writing a more casual business letter, close the correspondence with "cordialmente," which is similar to the Spanish "sincerely." "Un cordial saludo" is a similar closing that is appropriate for business letters.

It must be nice to be on the receiving end of a spanish business letter. They are so exageratedly a$$ kissing, its almost funny. Most esteemed mr.... ..it is with extreme pleasure...most cordially salute you... Must be a bit of an ego booster to recieve one.

Yeah but writing one..,

makes you want to gag sometimes. My Dominican friends insist that all that kissing up be included. Fortunately, a lot of the official letters just get stuck in some pile, then lost, and never read anyway.
