Santo Domingo
Hey guys I've been to Santo Domingo plenty of times but I never used a Cabana for a "date" my hotel is out of the question so I have a few questions that someone can help me with. (Note: I've done some reading online however some things are left unclear)

#1 What is the best cost effective Cabana in Santo Domingo (Preferably near the Malecon or Zonal Colonial)
#2 I've read it is a gate to enter is there a way to simply walk in or you need to bring an uber just to get inside
#3 For the payment is it truly anonymous how is the cabana process?

I prefer to simply book an AirAnb but I didn't want to book something I only needed an hour for.

I'd be really hard-pressed to believe the woman you are with doesn't know how the whole thing works.
1. Cost-effective depends on what you want to pay. There really isn't a lot of difference between the regular and nicer ones.
2. Most cabañas have a row of electric garage doors. Look for one that is open without a rope barrier which indicates it hasn't been prepared yet. You can walk in and close the door and the attendant will come and knock on your cubby hole
3. You open the cubby hole and ask how much, hand the money to the anonymous hand, and they will return if they owe you change.
In any case,
Just let her take charge and um.... enjoy the ride.

I have become Juan Dolio to the Capital oriented and of course know the score on cabanas and agree with the above response. My question is: are there many cabanas as you go further away from the capital? Or in the north? Campo?

Johne, jump on Google maps and search for cabañas Santo Domingo. There are groups of them in many areas of the city - not so many out your way.

Funny story - when I bought my properties in San Isidro, there were only a few. Now there are many, many more.

Why is your hotel out of the question? All the hotels in the Zona and on the Malecon are full of chicas and chicos. It's standard, all you need to do is make sure your guest has ID and presents it, and register them as a guest. Unless there's another reason (in town with your wife for example).

Cabañas only work if you arrive in your own car, not in an Uber. But there are plenty of hotels where you could go for a quickie. Hotel Monumental or Hotel Roma in the Conde both come in at about US$ 40, or there's the place above Supermercado Nacional on the Conde, or the one on the corner of Parque Independencia close to Paco's, which are probably even less.

Funny story, once I went to a cabaña with a boyfriend. It wasn't exclusive, so he wanted to keep it on the DL. It was pouring with rain and you had to buzz a buzzer on the street to get them to open the gate, but it didn't work, so the lady comes out under a huge umbrella, so we couldn't see her face until it was too late and my date realised it was, wait for it, his mother in law. She was helping out a friend who ran the place. I thought he'd be too upset to do the business, but he said he might as well as his wife would be cutting his bits off when he got home.

A car is not mandatory. You can arrive in a taxi, and call a taxi when you leave. Stop overthinking it.

Several Cabanas in POP have shaded parking spots for motoconchos to wait (w/ bottled water) until you are done. Once you have paid for the room and extras, the owner/staff could care less how you have arrived.

Sorry my bad then, as I thought that everyone arrived in a cabaña by car - certainly that's how they are designed, you pull in to an empty garage and go into the room, the aim being that nobody sees you.

Just for the record, you can walk in also............When you close the garage door generally the phone will ring and ask if you want anything. Then they come to collect. A lot have the machine that comes around with the bill and you put the money in and it spins around............

Once again, you won't come across a woman who doesn't know how cabañas work. Go with the flow.

Hard to get a spot on "Secretary's Day"...............

Excellent point.

I still remember when I first came here back in the seventies, a girl I met didn't want to go to a cabaña, so instead she took me to "El Burrito" on Ave. España.
Let's see how many of you guys have been there or even heard of it. :geek:
