Call Centers in Santo Domingo

I've heard that there are some call centers in Santo Domingo. I'm from Philippines and I'm thinking of relocating in Dominican Republic. If you can help me with my inquiries before I can make my final decision.


How much is the salary for a call center agent in Santo Domingo?
Is $1200 enough to cover all the day-to-day expenses?
What are the things that I should expect?

Call centres in santo Domingo on average will pay DR1000 per day, if you have good connections then maybe a little more, if you don't then maybe a little less. If you are considering relocating on a call centre wage and are expecting to be independent then forget it, it can't be done.

The initial offer given to me was $1000 (around DR39,000), do you think this is a good offer? This is just the basic pay without the allowances and Overtime pay. With this kind of income, do you think I can get by?

The office is located in Santo Domingo, just dont know the exact area... How much would be the rent for an apartment for 2? My husband will also go with me (same work and salary)...

Santo Domingo is a huge city, the call centers are located in a number of different areas - ranging from the center of the city to the outskirts (zona franca for instance) or Zona Haina. Most pay in the range of $RD 100-125 / hour a basic payment and depending on the job there could be commissions. Assuming you work five days a week - you'll be lucky to clear $RD 20,000 / month.

Nice apartments average about 500-650 US / month (again this is on the average and based on local observations). Can be much cheaper depending on the neighborhoods - it's a walk and hunt kind of thing here - find a neighborhood you like and walk the streets - talk to the colmado folks.
