Canada wants a FTA with the Dominican Republic

The president of the Dominican-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Gustavo de Hostos called for a Free Trade Agreement with Canada. De Hostos says this would boost the economy and diversify Dominican products and services. The Dominican Republic already has a Free Trade Agreement with the United States.

“We are two complementary economies. What is produced here at certain times of the year has an assured market in Canada because of the winter in that country, especially in the farm sector with the production of fruits and vegetables,” he said.

De Hostos forecast 2022 will be a good year for Canadian and Dominican relations because of the work that is being carried out. He forecast an increase in Canadian tourists. He announced a high-level commercial mission of local businesses is scheduled to visit Canada in the first half of June 2022 to promote more trade.
