I read the following message on the AOL International Dom Rep Message Board. I want to share this because I was tempted to take my kids on this excursion several times while visting Punta Cana. According to the writer, BEWARE!!!!!!! Has anyone had similar experiences?????

" ...warning to those of you considering going to Captain Cook's Seafood restaurant. Along the beach, the boat stops and will transport you to the restaurant.....the "captain" asks you to get him a plate of food and a drink from the buffet. ........Look out for the hair raising ride in his boat. He drives very fast slapping the waves until you are about nuts and asking him to go slow is useless. He has NO regard for his passengers on either entering or leaving the boat. Since there is no dock or pier, he doesn't even pull the boat up on the sand so you are left to get out in the water......my husband was about to exit the boat when he was thrown backwards over the seat injuring his back. Just want to post this so it doesn't happen to someone else. .........also, the lobsters were 250 pesos ($15.00/lbs.)"

Wow!!!!!!! Some message! has anyone else gone to Captain Cooks" near the Iberostar Dominicana?????? Just wondering

To put it simply, "it's a tourist trap".....
Was in Punta Cana in March of this year, and did witness pretty much the same type of behavior, absolutely no regard for the safety of the passengers.
As for the resturant, the owner packs them in like sardines, not my cup of tea.
And how would I know since i didn't participate, I watched everyday from the beach behind the Catalonia Hotel as the people lined up to board the skiff, which he would overload and proceed
to run them down the coast to Captain Cooks.
After I arrived at the town of Cortecito via the local guagua, my curiosity got the best of me, and I had to go see what this Captain Cook thing was all about. Belive me, he does one helluva
business (by the way the owner is from Spain)he also owns the gift shop across the street. Must give him credit though, he saw an opportunity to make some big bucks and jumped on it.
As for the food, heard it was very good, but by far way over priced. Suggest walking down the street to the local bar/restaurant for a nice cold Presidente, tostones, fried fish, salad, lobster and yes it is just as fresh since they all buy from the same local fishermen....

And by the way,if your staying at the Iberostar, no need to take the skiff, Cortecito is within walking distance and yes it is safe.....
Enjoy your trip.....
