Thanks in advance to all those who assist. My question is where is the best place to rent a car in Santo Domingo? What I mean it process to get checked out and not ripped off as well.
I'm coming from Florida and drive regularly in DR. My current car is not too good to drive to Barahona for a few days. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have experience with 3 places. One is Avis at the airport. I would not recommend. It comes does to too much money with insurance.
Second place is near the airport, these are the guys that stand at the exit and offer car rental. I have rented from one guy 9 times, but always was not extreme;y happy with his service. Though no major issues or reaping off but a bit of hustling and not delivering what was promised. Price was about $38 a day with insurance for regular size sedan and more for SUV. My current place is in Boca Chica, seem to be more on point, no hustle. Was able to get $23 per day for a smaller car.

What is the name and location of the one in Boca Chica? I will check them out when I get back over there.

I strongly suggest you go with one of the US car rental agencies. More expensive, but less to lose if something goes wrong.

I rented in Las Terrenas once.... nice enough car, good enough price

What I did NOT appreciate was the renter guy showing up with a pistol to collect at the airport
Tucked into his belt - very visibly
