Can anybody remind me how to play Casino? It was my favorite game when I lived there, but I just can't remember how to play or how to decide who's the winner. Thanks in advance! Mary

Come to my house!!

Casino is played either between two or four people.
Two is one against one
four is partners against partners.
Cards are dealt 2 at a time, each player receiving only 4 cards.
Another four cards are placed face up on the table.
Idea of the game is to match cards on the table with cards in your hand (or visa versa). this can be done one on one or by combining cards on the table to make a higher value. For example, 3+4+5= Queen, or Ace (which can be either one or eleven) plus Queen can be a king....
Points are awarded as follows:
Aces are one point each
deuce of Spades=1 pt
10 of Diamonds= CASINO=2 points
Who ever gets most spades (seven or more)=1 point
Most cards=3 pts

Some people play with "sweeps", which is cleaning the table of cards: Like if there are an 8 , a 2 and a 3 on the table, you can "sweep" with a King, leaving the table clean and forcing your opponent to discard without possibility of taking a card.
Sweeps are scored by leaving one card face up under your pile of won cards. Understood??

Re: Come to my house!!

A ver. So, you take a card (like Rummy only you start with 4 on the table) if you can't take one or more cards, you discard? Is there a point value for the Sweep, or does leaving the one card face up just remind you that you've sweapt and are very clever? And you only match cards from your hand and the table. Nothing from inside your hand. Is that right? What are you doing next weekend :) Just kidding. Thanks HB! Mary in Tokyo.

I did leave out a coulple of things

Since you only have four cards in your hand, after they are played, the dealer gives you another four cards.

Also the "su?s" (sweeps) are one point each, except that you can lose them if the other side makes one, then you lose one of yours. Of course if you have two sweeps and the other side only makes one, you still have an extra point.

Awaiting,

HB
