Hope some one can help out with some info here. I have been
to Puerto Plata and enjoyed it very much. A group of us go yearly
to Vegas but this year want a hot holiday perhaps in
Punta Cana. We want to enjoy the area in the day time but really
enjoy casino action for the evenings.
I realize it is not comparable at all to Vegas but are the casinos the same in Punta Cana as they are in Puerto Plata?
(I found them very drab and boring and not worth going to)
Would appreciate any info you can give.

Never been to Puerto Plata, so I can't offer a comparison, but I would think that if you are expecting any thing close to Vegas, forget it. There is no glitz here. I also don't think the pay out is to great.
We were at the Iberostar properties in Novemember. There is a brand new casino on the property. It is small, but very clean and nicely decorated. I would say about 25 or so slot machines, two or four blackjack tables and one or two roulette tables and one or two dice tables. I can't be sure only because I only went into the casino once and I don't gamble, I just walked around. In addition to the casino, there are small shows every evening, dancing before the shows and a disco after the shows.
