Last time I was in the Dominican Republic I did a lot of shopping for household items at a huge Chinese store in Higuey. They seemed to have everything (except customer service!)

I was told that a big new Chinese store was being built in Veron. Does anybody know of its existence?

Unfortunately not. I drove through Veron in the summer and I saw a big two storey shop being built. I was told it was going to become a Chinese Superstore but that's all I know!

Maybe what you're looking @bookbox is Plaza Yuan at the center of Veron city?

Thanks but I know Ole and it's not really what I'm looking for!

The Chinese Superstore in Higüey is massive and has everything for the house, from cutlery to furniture, decorations, tools, lights, kitchenware, etc.

It is open and now selling lots if Christmas crap. It us actually only about 100 yards from the Ole, in front of Pueblo Bavaro on the Downtown-Veron road. Parking is s problem, so you might actually want to park in front if Ole and walk. Don’t recall the name.

Thanks for all the replies. I finally found the place yesterday and while it's useful for standard household items the quality is not great.

I am sure it's full of the poorest quality crap China can produce
This is why China will own the world one Day ! ... because almost everybody is underestimating them.
We are ordering custom made milled and lathed parts from china, machinery and cold Room Equipment for more than 15 years.
True, a while ago they were cheap and delivered a lousy quality, but this times are over. Today they deliver same and sometimes even better quality than Europe or the US for less than half of the price. Most of the Chinese stores here are filled with cheap rubbish because this is what the average DR costumer requests.
I went to europe a few month ago. Nobody likes to work anymore. All about vacation and benefits etc. How do they want to compete with China ???

Well buy a Chinese turbo or alternator or like me an AC Compressor that blew apart on first use and you will see the quality of their auto parts.

Yes, China produces many low-quality, low-price items that can be found everywhere in the DR. Everybody agreed on this.
But, it's not only it!

As mentioned in a different thread, I am interested in 3D printing and drone technology, 2 high-tech fields where we see a lot of innovations year after year.
I always try to get the best product and then compromise based on price and functionalities.
At the time that I bought and still now, Chinese products were the best in each field.

I am not talking about cheap stuff.
3D Printer: USD 1,500
Drone: USD 1,300

Peace.

Xiomara just inaugurated a new factory that produces a cel phone every 2 seconds, 24/7. 10 million phones a year.

No employees, completely automated.
