We are two girls who will be spending 6 weeks om Hispaniola, including christmas and new-year. We would like to know how this is celebrated in DR and also in Haiti if anyone has any information about that.
What are the possibilities for foreign travelers?

I don't know how the christma are celebrated in Haiti, but I can tell you that the christmas in the Dominican Republic are the most happy one. In the Dominican Republic Christmas (Las Navidades) are very important. This is a time for family and friends to celebrate. In most household the festivities start as early as the end of november and continue to January 6, the three king day (dia de Reyes). During those days people visit each other, thers music, food and a lots of togetherness. Dominicans are very happy, friendly and above all very warm. They'll welcome anyone in their homes even if they have very litle to offer, their spirit is alway overflowing with joy enven in poverty. For foreign Travelers the Island is very safe and friendly. Dominicans welcome foreigner with open arms, it always been a tradition of our country. If you or anybody want to enjoy yourself to the maximum the Dominican Republi is the place to go.
