President Luis Abinader visited the Villa de la Navidad in Santo Domingo and Vice President Raquel Peña was in Santiago for the opening of that city’s Christmas decorations.

The Villa de la Navidad was set up by the National District capital city government at the grounds of the Palacio de los Deportes in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. Live shows and other recreational activities are on the program.

In Santiago, the area around the Cibao Theater is decorated with lights and will be the center of many recreational activities for this Christmas, New Years and Three Kings holidays.

Massive display here in Santiago. Noticed it Thursday evening when exiting the bus from Sosua. Impressive but a little unsettling seeing hows so many people deal with power/ electricity cuts around town on a daily basis.

I thought Santiago didn't have a problem like that.

Unfortunately things have gotten worse in many places. We haven’t needed an inverter for a few years, but now we have to reinstall two and buy batteries again. (We need one for just the refrigerator and separate chest freezer, the other for the house lights and outlets) 🤬🤬🤬

The main park where my in-laws have their campo house, the town turns off the main Christmas display at around 9p on weeknights and 11:00 on weekends. Years ago, it would be on all night.

I'm lucky where I live. We have best I've seen anywhere. At the beginning of this year we had some outages due to the monorail construction for about 2 hours a day roughly 3 weeks. Several areas of the city deal with it on a regular basis.

I thinks it's great they provide these displays for the children, especially to help the less fortunate enjoy the holidays however it would be really nice if Ede Norte y Co could learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.
