I am with an engineering firm in the states that has been asked about possibly performing some civil engineering work in the Dominican Republic. I cannot at this point find anything out about what kind of registration(s) may be necessary to do work in the DR. Is there anyone out there that would have more knowledge about this or how to gain registration? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

A lot would depend on just what you were going to do. As a US engineer you cannot practice the profession here without a Dominican engineer to sign off on everything.
Either that or go thorough a long, drawn out process of homologation of your degree(s).

Tell us more.

I wouldn't be working on any of the structural improvements but would be limited to the site improvements, I.E. site grading and drainage, sewer and water designs for the new buildings. I don't know if that would make a difference or not on this. I would likely have time to go through the registration process if necessary. I just don't want to go into this assuming what I can and can't do so I appreciate your help. Thanks.

The plans will have had to have been approved by the ministries and the local municipality, with the needed sign offs.
You, as a honcho come from overseas, will be able to supervise, direct and make freaking sure that what is on the plans is followed to the letter. You do not really need to register at all, and certainly no visa is required (in reality). You just come, tell them what is expected, see that it is done and then go back home in a couple of months or weeks as the case may be.
