I am trying to play NHL 13 games and getting dominated online because my players are much slower than the other guy's, while they have the same ratings. It looks like this is not because Claro is slower but because something called the NAT setting that restricts multiple addresses on the same modem is set to Strict. This does not permit multiple data streams outgoing it seems. You can change this in the modem but you need a password to access the modem settings. Is this something an ISP will even let you change or will tech support tell me to scram if I ask them about it?

Usually they won't give you the password. But sometimes they leave the default one. Try admin/1234 or admin/admin123 or any other generic combination you can think of. You can even google your modem model to find the factory defaults. You can alway bluff a little bit saying you're going to switch ISPs if they don't give you access to the modem config. Good luck.

I tried Admin and other info written on the modem and it did not work. I am going to try using a VPN router next since I can't access the regular router for port forwarding.

Try the following:
admin/admin
admin/1234
admin/password
and sometimes admin/(blank)

the easiest thing to do is look up the router on the web, get the instructions and then reset it so the password is set to the default.

I reset it and now I have lost wi-fi access to the net and trying to go to the manual's setup link just takes me to the same old Claro login. I think router access may be restricted from Claro itself in this case. Now I have no idea how to get the wireless running again.

As you reset it, try the user/password combos that I gave you..

Its the modem serial that is the pword and username, from there I was able to solve the problem.
