Columbus Day/Thanksgiving

Do the Dominicans celebrate Columbus Day/Thanksgiving on October 11? I will be in Puerto Plata then and would like to know what to expect. Thanks for any input.

I was in the Puerto Plata area for Thanksgiving a couple months ago(which is in November) and had a great traditional turkey dinner at "On the Waterfront" restaurant in Sosua. It was a special, prepared just for Thankgiving Day, and it was as good as I've ever had at home, complete with all the fixings. There were also the typical harvest decorations. Other than that, I saw no evidence of celebration for Thanksgiving.

Sorry we dont do thanksgiving in england, it says in my diary that it's on october 11. Anything for Columbus day, he did find the island.

Hi Olivia...Your diary is correct for Canadian Thanksgiving. It will be on October 11th this year.

Columbus Day is not a holiday in the Dominican Republic. Neither is Thanksgiving.
