I heard all sorts of NIGHTMARE stories on this:

If you invite a girl to live with you at the home that you own, what happens after a year?

Are you legally obligated to pay her per month if you kick her out?

Can you even tell her to leave?

What are her legal rights?

I believe she will own half of your home and its contents. And she may be quite expensive to run while she's there. You can tell her to leave but she may not want to go.

I heard this from several educated people.

But I am stunned.

Can someone from the Guzman Aria law firm chime in?

Bring her over the weekends only, don't let her bring her personal stuffs 😜 or just rent another place and move in with her permanently.
There is a concubinato law in DR.

When I first parted ways with my ex back in 2015 the only thing I took with me was a computer and a backpack. Told her keep the rest. Wasn't worth the potential headaches at that point in time.

Yes, you let someone move in then it will cost a lot of money to get them out of your property... That's why everytime I know some smart guy is trying to scam my Mom as she is 82 and lives alone when she is not here in the US I have to scare the hell out them. There are a lot of oportunistas in DR.
The good thing is that my daughter who lives in Santiago is a lawyer and I have the paper of the property but anyway I would have to go through a rough time.

Always rent your home/apt and rent furnished if possible.

The women love to take the furniture when you break up usually while your at work or out of town a few days. Even had a few dominican friends wives even take the light bulbs when they left.

But if its not your furniture it cannot be taken, it becomes theft from the landlord.

If she does then it becomes dominican vs dominican (her vs landlord) instead of (you vs her+ dominican courts)which you will lose.

Or if you do buy furniture stick with IKEA or nothing too expensive that you don't mind losing.

What most men don't realize is when you are shopping for furniture she is really picking it out for her now and in the future when she leaves with it.

Or as another suggested rent apt separate from anything you own.

You have no legal rights especially as a non dominican vs a dominican woman in courts.

Ok I understand, just saying maybe the OP did not realized that he can get a better opinion in the legal thread.
