Can you slice up this banana looking fruit like in chip form and fry it in oil to obtain the taste of potatoe chips?

That is the best way to eat it. With salt and a bit of ketchup it is better than french fries!! The easiest way is to deep fry, but there are other options if anyone else would like to explain them since I have never actually used them myself, only had them prepared for me. I love them!!!

If you live in the US you can buy it in a bag just like potato chips, if you rather cook it, use one ofthose gadgets to peel potatoes and slice it with it and just deep fry it.Bon apetite

the way I was taught to make plantin is to cut it 1/4 thick and fry it for a minute to soften it and then remove it from the oil and then flatten it with a can, bottle or in the DR the actually sell a flattener and then fry again till golden brown.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone! However, sorry one more question - Do you leave the peel on or take it off like a banana?

You take the peel off. They are also good in a style called mangu, where you boil them until they are really soft and mash them with some butter.

Slit the skin of a ripe(yellow)plantain with a knife, cut off the tips and throw it on the grill. Avoid all the grease from frying.
